Survivors of Alaska plane crash stranded overnight with corpses on mountainside
11/Aug/2010
The survivors of the plane crash which killed Senator Ted Stevens in Alaska were stranded overnight next to five corpses on a rocky mountainside, rescuers have said.
Sean O’Keefe, the former head of Nasa, and his teenage son were among the four survivors who spent the night in fog and rain on the mountain, after the plane came down in a rugged section of southwestern Alaska, 300 miles from Anchorage.
Stevens, 86, America's longest-serving Republican senator, and the eight other people in the single-engine plane were on a fishing trip when the flight ran into sudden fog and rain.
