2 Die in Traffic Accident in Colombia21 June 2010.
At least 12 people were killed and 24 others injured in a traffic accident over the weekend in Colombia, a highway patrol spokesman said.
The accident occurred on Sunday morning, when a bus and a truck collided on the highway between the cities of Curumani and Pailitas.

Coroner identifies two Rochester plane crash victims

The Olmsted County Coroner has released the names of two of the three victims of Wednesday's plane crash near Rochester International Airport.
Heather Nichols, 28, of Clermont, Fla., and Daniel Lauritsen, 30, of the Twin Cities, were on the plane when it went down shortly after midnight, less than a mile from the airport.
The third victim has been identified in news media though authorities are not yet confirming the information; they are waiting for dental records and should be able to make a positive identification within the next few days, said Olmsted County Coroner Dr. Eric Pfeiffer.

3rd victim named in meth lab explosion

The last of three men who died in a meth lab explosion and fire in Franklin this month has been identified through state dental records as a 41-year-old Middletown resident.
A forensic dentist with the Montgomery County morgue has confirmed John Carey is the third victim, Doyle Burke, chief investigator for the Warren County Coroner’s Office, said Monday.

20 feared drowned in U.P. boat tragedy

About 20 people are feared to have been drowned when the boat carrying them capsized in Saryu river in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. According to a police spokesman, about 35 people were aboard the boat and the mishap occurred near the Ekhara Ghat under Khairi Ghat police station area in Bahraich district

Sundance Can’t Say When Crash Bodies Will Be Moved

Sundance Resources Ltd., whose board members died in an aircraft crash in the Republic of Congo, said the bodies remained at the site as recovery work continued.
“The bodies have not been removed from the site and the company cannot predict when this will take place,” Perth-based Sundance said today in a statement. “The objective of this stage of the operation is to clear vegetation to provide access to the site to facilitate recovery of the deceased.”
Six Australian, two British, one U.S. and two French citizens were on the twin turboprop Casa C212 plane chartered by Sundance that went missing June 19 on a flight from Cameroon’s capital Yaounde to Yangadou in Congo. The site has been secured by the French military and Sundance’s emergency response specialists Dynamiq, the company said.

Crews cutting path to Congo crash site

Authorities are cutting a path through a remote area of Congolese jungle where a plane crashed on Saturday, killing the Perth-based Sundance Resources entire board.
The company says no bodies have yet been recovered.
The Federal Government is sending senior diplomats to Congo to help identify the bodies of the six Australians. Foreign Affairs Minister Stephen Smith says "It may well be necessary for remains to be removed to a third country in order to complete the disaster victim identification process."

Heavy rains in Brazil leave over 600 people missing

At least 40 people have been killed in the rains while 50,000 or more have been left without shelter.
Officials have reported many people missing, after the catastrophe caused by the broken dam in Alagoas.

Papua Quake Killed 17

More than 2,500 homes were “badly damaged” and 17 deaths in Wednesday’s 7.1-magnitude earthquake in Papua, Andi Arief, the presidential adviser for social welfare, said on Monday.

Small plane crashes in Quebec, killing 7
23 June 2010. Canada.
A lengthy investigation was launched Wednesday to determine what caused a small plane to crash in a field near the Quebec City airport, killing all seven people on board
The plane was carrying five passengers, including civil servants, workers from an architecture firm in Quebec City and an engineer — Normand Tremblay, 58. The latter was identified by his employer Cegerco, a firm based in the Saguenay region.
The coroner's office said the victims will probably not be formally identified until Friday.

The identity of some victims unveiled

We know the identity of some of the seven victims of the plane crash near the Jean-Lesage Airport, Quebec. The identities of several of the victims have not been unveiled as the next of kin have not yet been notified.
A team from the coroner’s office has met with the bereaved to help them in the task of identifying victims.

Death toll rises to 13 in Spanish rail crash: officials
24 June 2010.
Analysis of the remains of victims of the rail accident in northeastern Spain Thursday revealed that 13 people died in the tragedy, a regional official said.
Authorities had earlier put the death toll at 12 from the accident, in which an express train slammed into a group of young revellers crossing the tracks to get to a beach party.
The impact of the collision mutilated the bodies of the victims.
eight of the bodies -- those of a young woman and seven men -- had been identified.

Remains of South Africans who lost their lives in the Afriqiyah air crash have been repatriated home.

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation wishes to confirm that the mortal remains of the South African citizens who perished in the air crash of AFRIQIYAH Air flight 771 near Tripoli on 12 May 2010, have all been identified and (their mortal remains) repatriated. The speed with which this was done was made possible due to intergovernmental cooperation with the Disaster Victim Identification Authority of the Netherlands and the significant role played by INTERPOL, facilitated by the South African Police. Most identifications were possible through primary identification, i.e. fingerprints and dental records. The Department remains in contact with the next-of-kin to render follow-up consular assistance. Our condolences go out to the families.

9 killed in LPG blast

A six-wheeler truck carrying hundreds of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders crashed into a roadside eatery and a parked car, triggering an explosion that burned to death nine people – including a two-year-old boy – and engulfed a row of houses in Carmona, Cavite past midnight yesterday.
The accident came a day after a speeding sport utility van rammed an electric post, killing seven passengers in Dasmariñas town, also in Cavite.
The victims in yesterday’s accident were burned beyond recognition.

A struggle to recover the bodies after Congo plane crash

French commandos rappelled into dense jungle yesterday to prepare for the evacuation of the bodies of six Australian mining executives.
A small army of mining contractors, including many Australians, began to bulldoze a 20km track through the jungle to the crash site so a helicopter can land and transport the bodies to Brazzaville, the capital of the Congo, where they will be formerly identified.
But a Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman said identification might be so difficult that the bodies would have to be taken to a third country, prolonging the enormous grief being felt by the families of the men.

Fires Kill 4 in Surabaya

Four people died when a cafe at a Surabaya shopping center caught fire on Friday. Flames engulfed the Cafe Redboxx at the Pakuwon Trade Center at 3:20 a.m., Metro TV reported.
Surabaya Police sent teams from the forensics lab and Disaster Victim Identification to determine the cause of the fire. The teams arrived at 9 a.m. to process the scene.

Nightclub fire kills 10 in Surabaya

The death toll from a fire that ripped through a packed nightclub in Surabaya early Friday has reached 10, including a mother and the baby she apparently gave birth to during the tragedy.

Multiple fatalities confirmed in Fort Edward fire
26 June 2010. USA.
As many as five children are dead after a fire destroyed a two-story Fort Edward home Saturday morning.
Officials from the Warren County Department of Public Safety have confirmed multiple fatalities but have not yet confirmed the ages or genders of the deceased. Officials also confirmed that three people escaped the fire and were transported to Glens Falls Hospital.

Jungle crash bodies recovered
26 June 2010. Congo.
The acting chairman of Sundance Resources, George Jones, says the bodies of all 11 people killed in a plane crash in West Africa last week have been recovered.
Rescuers found the plane several days after it went down and Mr Jones says all bodies have now taken to Brazzaville for identification, including DNA testing.
Mr Jones says the recovery is good news during a very difficult time for friends and family of the men.
Mr Jones says authorities from the Congo, United States, France and Australia are doing all they can to bring the bodies home.

Congo train death toll revised to 54
27 June 2010.
A total of 54 people died in a train crash in Congo and not 76 as originally reported, the crisis committee set up in the wake of the derailment told AFP.
"The number of bodies recorded after the train accident is 54, of which 11 are as yet unidentified," a committee official said on Saturday, asking not to be named.
All the bodies are at the municipal morgue in Pointe-Noire which is open to all.

23 killed as bus rams into truck on Patna-Gaya road

In the worst-ever road mishap in recent times in Bihar, at least 23 passengers were killed and several others injured when a Gaya-bound private bus rammed into a truck coming from the opposite direction.
So strong was the collision that the fronts of the two vehicles were reduced to a wreckage of mangled iron and scraps strewn all around along with flesh and blood.

11 killed after roof collapse during World Cup match

Up to eleven people have died in Senegal after the roof where football fans were watching a World Cup game collapsed.
The tragedy occurred in Northern Senegal in the town of Matam on Saturday during the Uruguay Vs. South Korea match
