NFI congress
24/May/2010
Crimes, wars and natural disasters are not restricted by borders. Because of this, forensic investigations frequently have an international aspect. Practical experience has shown that the sharing of informationis often incomplete, infrequent if not absent. Therefore the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) organises the international congress ‘Crossing borders: international forensics’ on Thursday the 1st and Friday the 2nd of July 2010.
On day 1 leading speakers from the international forensic sciences, criminal law and political arenas will discuss their findings and experiences regarding international forensic investigations. Amongst them Mr. Hirsch Ballin (outgoing minister of Justice), Mr. Kleiser (International Commission on Missing Persons, ICMP), Mr. De Kinder (European Network of Forensic Science Institutes, ENFSI) and Mr. Asante-Apeatu (Interpol).
On day 2, there will be the opportunity to have discussions with other prominent guests. In several parallel sessions, group discussions are organised under a number of headings, such as forensic awareness
within an international forensic context, problems with international investigations, the legal frameworks for such investigations and the formation of international forensic investigation teams. Both days will be chaired by Mr. Charles Groenhuijsen.
